Orthodontics (Braces)

Orthodontics is dedicated to diagnosing, preventing and treating improper alignment of biting or chewing surfaces of upper and lower teeth through braces, corrective procedures and other tools to straighten teeth and correct jaw alignment. Orthodontic treatment can improve your smile and oral health.

Orthodontics is concerned with the study and treatment of improper bites, which include malocclusions, crooked or crowded teeth, cross bites, overbites or underbites. The treatment typically involves the use of active orthodontic tools, like braces, and post-treatment retentive tools, like retainers.

Who is an Orthodontist?
Orthodontists are qualified dentists, who undergo three years of additional training to study tooth movement (orthodontics) and proper facial development (dentofacial orthopedics) which is straightening of teeth and aligning jaws. Orthodontists can detect, predict and prevent facial irregularities. We are some of the most experienced orthodontists in Delhi. When you visit us, rest assured that you’re in good hands.

When is the best time to begin orthodontics?
The initial orthodontic evaluation should occur at the first sign of orthodontic problems. Beginning treatment as early as possible, preferably by age 7, ensures the best and quickest results and the least amount of expenses. In early cases, vigilant examination can predict the most advantageous time to begin treatment, taking the easier, less constricting path of treatment and saving lengthy procedures for the child at a later stage.

What are the benefits of early orthodontic evaluation?
Early evaluation provides timely detection of problems and greater scope for more flexible treatment. Growth and development can be properly guided, preventing severe problems later. When orthodontic intervention is not necessary, an orthodontist can carefully monitor growth and development and begin treatment when it is ideal.

What are the advantages of interceptive treatment?
Some of the most direct results of interceptive treatment are:
• Creating room for crowded, newly forming teeth
• Creating facial symmetry through influencing jaw growth
• Reducing the risk of trauma to protruding front teeth
• Preserving space for unformed teeth
• Reducing the need for tooth removal
• Reducing treatment time with braces

Types of Braces:

Traditional Metal Braces

Metal braces are the most common type of braces and are more comfortable today than ever before. They are strong and can withstand all kinds of treatment. Made of high-grade stainless steel, metal braces straighten your teeth using metal brackets and archwires. You can choose from a lot of designs for the metal brackets, and with a whole range of colored elastics (rubber band), give yourself a more unique, colorful smile. You can even opt for gold-plated metal braces, as they look stylish while transforming your smile.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces are made of clear materials and are therefore less visible from a distance and in photos. For this reason, ceramic braces are a preferred choice of teenagers and adults who have cosmetic concerns. The ligatures (tiny rubber bands) that hold the arch wire on to the ceramic brackets are often white or clear. While these are visually less prominent, they do require more attention to oral hygiene as ceramic braces are larger and are more brittle than their metal counterparts.

Invisible braces

We are the FIRST and probably the only centre in Delhi to make the Clear aligners in our own laboratories. It helps us be more efficient and precise to suit them for your individual needs. All the digital movements of your teeth are done by the orthodontist himself.

Clear appliances (such as clear aligners) use a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners to straighten your teeth. Your friends will only see your smile transform like magic and not know that you are using braces! So smile with confidence. These aligners are removable too, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment. Brushing and flossing remains simple and effortless. The aligners are custom-fit and have no metal, so say goodbye to mouth abrasions during treatment.

Lingual Braces

Did you know that your teeth can be straightened without worrying about your appearance? Lingual braces are our undercover agents! These braces attach on the inner surface of the tooth, inside the mouth where they cannot be seen. Because lingual braces are hidden behind your teeth, you can enjoy the process much more. The secret transformation of your smile will astound people. Lingual braces are customized for your mouth which helps make them efficient, effective and less intrusive.

Adult Treatment

Braces can be used at any stage of your life to give you the beautiful smile you’ve always wanted. If your gums and jaw bone are healthy, tooth structure can be changed even in adulthood. We offer a variety of treatments that are designed for different age groups – including adults. A new smile can begin today.

Crooked teeth and a bad bite can contribute to gum and bone loss, tooth decay, abnormal wear of the tooth enamel, headaches and jaw joint (TMJ/TMD) pain. Orthodontic treatment will improve the health of your teeth and gums. This will not just result in better oral hygiene, but also a dramatic boost in your confidence. You don’t have to hide your smile anymore.

The new techniques and appliances we use greatly reduce discomfort levels, decrease the frequency of visits, shorten treatment time and may allow you to choose from several options. Your options may include metal braces, translucent braces or transparent aligners that can be worn at night to improve mild cases of misaligned teeth.

A large percentage of our patients are adults, and they agree that it’s never too late to invest in and improve their greatest asset – their smile. After all, you wear your smile everyday.

Your first appointment:

The aim of your first appointment is to collect all the necessary information in order to make a diagnosis and create a treatment plan. This will involve taking a history, performing a clinical examination and undertaking a radiographic (x-ray) examination. All the radiographs are taken at the centre itself with the most advanced digital technology. If you have previously received orthodontic treatment, it would be useful if you can bring records of this treatment with you. It is routine for us to take clinical photographs for diagnostic purposes and as clinical record during a consultation.

At the end of the consultation we should be able to provide you with a treatment plan and estimated cost. If you have any queries or concerns, this would be the right time to discuss them.

International Patients:

We are very happy to see patients visiting, working or studying in New Delhi for the continuation of their orthodontic care and for emergency appointments. We have expertise in dealing with a full range of orthodontic appliances. For patients considering transferring their care to us, please bring all your previous orthodontic records to the first consultation appointment if at all possible.
